Asbestos Removal in Canterbury

It is true that the use of asbestos was completely banned by the UK government in 1999. But that move, while necessary, could not eliminate asbestos from the countless homes and businesses built before the ban that had asbestos insulation and other products installed in them. Once the ban on new asbestos insulation was in place it became the job of companies like Asbestos Gone to assist home and business owners with identifying this dangerous material and removing it for them.

The thing that makes asbestos such an insidious threat, and separates it from others, is that it typically unfolds over many years. If, for instance, asbestos insulation was installed in your home during the 1970s it likely posed very little, if any, threat at the time. It was only as the years passed and that insulation began to lose structural integrity and break down, that tiny asbestos fibres began being released into the air to be breathed in by the unsuspecting.

At first, the amount being released would be tiny. But over time more and more fibres would come loose gradually increasing the threat and making removal essential. At the same time, the process of removal is not as simple as going in and tearing out the offending items and declaring the house clean. Asbestos removal must be done in accordance with strict guidelines and regulations in order to ensure a bad situation is not made worse.

While other stories garner far more media attention these days the crucial work of removing the asbestos threat from the UK remains ongoing.
