Why Are We Still Talking About Asbestos?
In 1999 the UK government finally banned the use of asbestos in future construction. However, that action did nothing to address the asbestos already installed in millions of UK homes. To deal with all that legacy asbestos rigorous procedures were developed governing the handling and removal of asbestos and a certification scheme was employed that requires all those who perform removal work to be licensed by the Health & Safety Executive.
As such, if someone offers to remove the asbestos in your Coulsdon home your first question should be "Can I see your license?" If they cannot produce one then you should steer clear of them and call the pros at Asbestos Gone. We are fully licensed and insured for asbestos removal in Coulsdon so you can rest easy knowing the job will be done right.

Why Bother With Asbestos Removal Now?
It's been 25 years since the government banned new usage of asbestos, so why bother removing it now? Hasn't the threat passed? No. The threat from asbestos actually increases with the passage of time. That's because asbestos fibres are not released into the air until an asbestos product starts to break down. And that process can take many years.
Therefore if you have asbestos in your home that was installed in, say, 1980 it poses a greater threat now than it did 20 years ago. And if you're of a mind to doubt the ongoing threat posed by asbestos consider that last year some 5,000 people in the UK died from asbestos-related illness.
