Asbestos Removal in Godalming

Contrary to popular belief asbestos is not a man-made substance. It is a naturally occurring mineral that has been known to humans for thousands of years. Throughout most of that time, however, it was only used to make the occasional blanket or similar items. In the early 20th century, however, that changed. Asbestos mining began on an industrial scale and manufacturers rushed to create products for the home that took advantage of its insulation and fireproofing properties.

But it wasn't long after widespread mining commenced that miners began to complain of negative health effects. Sadly, their pleas fell on deaf ears for a long time until, toward the late 20th century, the evidence of the dangers of asbestos became overwhelming. Finally, asbestos was banned in the UK in 1999, but legacy asbestos products remained in place in countless UK homes.
