Asbestos Removal in Sittingbourne

The UK banned the use of asbestos in 1999, and to many people, that was the end of the story. In fact, the ban, while necessary, was only the first step in the process of ridding the UK of this insidious health hazard. That's because by the time the ban was finally implemented, asbestos-containing products like pipe insulation, ceiling tiles and floor coverings had already been installed in literally millions of UK homes. In most homes, it was installed during the construction process. But in other homes, it was installed during renovation or remodelling work. Once the ban took effect, the problem became removing all that legacy asbestos. That job fell to companies like Asbestos Gone, who have been reducing the overall asbestos threat one home at a time for years now.

A Different Kind of Health Hazard

It is quite possible that you have been living with asbestos without experiencing any obvious health problems for years. But there is no security in such knowledge. The fact is that asbestos-containing products become more dangerous, not less, as they get older, breaking down and releasing ever-greater amounts of potentially deadly fibres into the air. Over time, breathing in these fibres can cause a rash of existential health problems, including a type of lung cancer called mesothelioma.

If your home was built in the 20th century, or if it underwent any type of significant renovation or remodelling work during that time, it may well be one of the 1.5 million UK homes that still harbour asbestos. The only way to eliminate the threat entirely is to have the asbestos removed.
