Why Asbestos is Still an Issue 25+ Years After its Banning

A hundred years ago doctors who dealt with asbestos miners were raising red flags regarding disturbing health problems they were encountering. Their warnings, however, were largely ignored. As the 20th century wore on those warnings became louder and more insistent until the UK government finally acted on the mountain of evidence and banned the use of asbestos in 1999. At the time, many breathed a sigh of relief thinking the problem was solved. Not so. That's because while the ban was necessary and long overdue it did nothing to address the asbestos-containing products that had already been installed in millions of homes nationwide. That task was left to companies like Asbestos Gone. And so, just as it took many years to install asbestos in all those UK homes, so too will it take years to remove it all.

Why You Should Never Try to Remove Asbestos Yourself

No matter how much experience you have performing projects around the house asbestos removal is one of those things that must be left to the professionals. That's because removing asbestos is a tedious, exacting process and it only takes one slip-up to put everyone in your home in grave danger. But there is an even more compelling reason not to try and remove asbestos yourself: it's against the law. In the wake of the UK ban on asbestos in 1999, other laws were passed that stipulated that - due to the danger it poses - only properly trained and certified professionals are legally allowed to handle asbestos.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Brilliant company to deal with. Very reasonable prices. The two workers that did my work are the best I have ever dealt with. They worked non stop for 3 days in very hot temperatures and not one complaint. They remained upbeat throughout. When the work was completed they tidied up and swept the site. Highly highly recommended.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Great service! Me and my partner are buying a 1960s property and wanted some testing doing before we finalise the deal. Asbestos gone was round within a couple of days of me calling (Friday) had the results back on the Tuesday. Really happy with the speedy and professional service I received, they also gave me a quote for the removal that needs doing so will be using them when we move in 👍
