Asbestos is a naturally occurring material that people have known about for thousands of years, ever since the ancient Greeks used it to create warm blankets to protect against the winter chill. However, it wasn't until the 20th century, when large-scale asbestos mining became possible, that it started finding its way into mass-produced building materials like insulation and tiles.
By the time asbestos was banned by the UK government in 1999, those products had already been installed in millions of homes and businesses across the country and since then the job has been to identify and remove it. That's where we come in.
