Asbestos Survey Gravesend

Asbestos is a naturally occurring material that people have used for thousands of years. It wasn't until the 20th century, however, that large-scale mining made it possible to mass-produce asbestos-based products like pipe insulation, floor and ceiling tiles and countertops.

Not long after large-scale mining ramped up workers began complaining of a variety of respiratory problems and over time the evidence began to point directly at asbestos fibres as the cause. Still, it took decades before governments were compelled to act and by then this hazardous material was already in place in millions of structures right across the UK.

As legacy asbestos materials in homes and businesses slowly break down over time they release potentially deadly asbestos fibres into the air to be breathed in by the unsuspecting. This is why even today, 25 years after being banned by the UK government, asbestos is believed to be responsible for as many as 5,000 deaths per year.

Before asbestos can be removed it must be identified and the state of the asbestos-containing products accurately assessed. That is the job of the asbestos survey. If our survey turns up asbestos in your home you will receive a report detailing its location and condition along with a quotation for removal.

Many DIYers are tempted to handle their asbestos problem on their own. This is a huge mistake. One error can result in the entire home being contaminated with millions of airborne asbestos fibres that will be nearly impossible to track down and eliminate.
